Field Service Engineer

Responsibilities
The Field Service Engineer will provide remote and on-site support as follows:
• Provide dedicated electrical support for a single customer field service events (scheduled maintenance, upgrades, unplanned maintenance, and warranty work) for Vericor’s engines and related systems.
• Be available for on-call support after hours and weekends.
• Provide customer support using Vericor's Remote Performance Monitoring system.
• Collaborate with Vericor's Engineering team to troubleshoot field issues, provide recommendations for improved performance, root cause analysis, and assist in development of new technology.
• Collaborate with the Field Service team to improve commissioning processes, plan standard work, and develop work scope for new technology.
• Travel as needed to support the mechanical commissioning of customer’s new engines in the Dallas and Houston area.
• Collaborate with Vericor Mechanical FSE's, learn the requirements to perform controls and electrical commissioning tasks.
• Document maintenance activities as required for Field Service Reports.
• Support configuration tracking of customer’s engines.
• Comply with the customer’s and Vericor’s environmental, health, and safety programs.
• Provide controls and electrical support during start-up/commissioning and field service events for Vericor’s industrial and marine engines and systems.
• Internal and External customer focal point for all field related electrical/controls problems. Solicit direct customer feedback on Vericor’s controls and LRUs and provide this feedback to the organization to continuously improve our customer relations.
• Project management responsibilities for customer specific projects. Includes initial feasibility studies, contract definition, commissioning activities, schedule fidelity, subcontractor management, and customer interface.
• Provide support to Vericor Controls Engineering in the in-house testing of new control system designs and evaluation of improvements related to control system SRD fixes.
• Promote the expansion and growth of Vericor’s remote performance monitoring system, providing feedback gleaned from the system to drive continuous improvement in Vericor’s products.
• Provide technical guidance and input during development of Vericor’s new projects/programs.
• Sign-off and take accountability for electrical and controls portions of these projects and programs.
• Provide prompt technical support for service revealed controls and LRU related problems. Includes developing and implementing technical solutions to ensure solutions are brought to the field and production in a cost-effective manner while meeting customer expectations.
• Provide input to Vericor’s technology roadmap and strategic business plan.
• Develop, approve, and implement methods to achieve cost and schedule reductions, performance, and quality enhancements.
• Document both in-person and remote support of controls and electrical issues encountered, troubleshooting activities, recommendations, and outcomes.
• Work in Vericor’s Greer, SC factory when not on fields service trips.

Demonstrated experience with programming, field application modifications and data collection through Rockwell Studio 5000, CoDeSys or similar PLC development environment.
- Experience with installation and maintenance of embedded control systems, such as ECUs and
- Hands on experience with Programmable Logic Controllers, such as Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, Wago Fieldbus, or similar industrial controllers.
- Have an understanding with programming in high level programming languages (C, IEC-61131-3 Structured Text, Java script, etc.) desired, but not essential.
- Familiarity with generator control systems and associated engine speed governor controls.
- Ability to resolve and implement solutions to complex technical issues.
- Results oriented and works well in team environment.
- Strong customer relations experience. Ability to develop new and enhance existing customer relationships.

- Familiar with gas turbine technology and marine/industrial/Oil & Gas markets
- Demonstrated project management experience desired with both commercial and government programs.

- Ability to effectively interface across manufacturing, engineering, supply chain and finance functions – a team builder.
- Effective communication skills both verbally and in written format, clear, concise technical summaries to internal management and external customers. Ability to listen to the customer and translate their concerns into internal corrective actions.
- Willingness to learn gas turbine assembly/disassembly particulars and assist Vericor Mechanical Field Service Engineers in performing related tasks in the field.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience with industrial/marine gas turbines, and control systems.
- Strong customer relations experience, develop and enhance customer relationship. Ability to work effectively in high pressure, time & cost sensitive situations, oftentimes under direct customer observation.
- Deals effectively in a dynamic environment, maintaining focus and continuity with customers, subcontractors, and senior management. Work cross functionally within the Vericor teams.
- Demonstrated project, product, and subcontract management skills.
- Demonstrated expertise and hands-on experience in commissioning and troubleshooting mechanical systems in the field. Deliver on internal and external commitments.
- Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written, provide clear and concise technical field service reports.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards and procedures.
- Physically able to perform the tasks as required.
- Ability to pass an eye exam, sufficient visual acuity to perform inspections as needed.
- U.S. Citizen or permanent resident status.
- Experience with Oil & Gas regulations and meeting product certification requirements.
- Experienced with Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel.
- Travel up to 65% of the time in support of Vericor fielded products. Primarily CONUS. Ability to travel occasionally OCONUS.
- A&P license a plus.
